چکیده

Enhancing light-matter coupling at the level of single quanta is essential for numerous applications in quantum science. The cooperative optical response subwavelength atomic arrays has been found to open new pathways such strong couplings, while simultaneously offering access multiple spatial modes light field. Efficient single-mode free-space reported, but control over outgoing fields remained elusive. Here, we demonstrate an atomically thin mirror formed by a array atoms free space using controlled ancilla atom excited Rydberg state. switching behavior admixture small fraction mirror, and consequently dipolar interactions with ancilla. Driving Rabi oscillations on atom, coherent transmission reflection array. These results represent step towards realization metasurfaces, demonstration atom-photon entanglement deterministic engineering states light.

Rydberg-blockade controlled-NOT gate and entanglement in a two-dimensional array of neutral-atom qubits

We present experimental results on two-qubit Rydberg-blockade quantum gates and entanglement in a twodimensional qubit array. Without postselection against atom loss we achieve a Bell state fidelity of 0.73 ± 0.05. The experiments are performed in an array of single Cs atom qubits with a site to site spacing of 3.8 μm. Using the standard protocol for a Rydberg-blockade CZ gate together with sin...

Ultracold Chemical Reactions of a Single Rydberg Atom in a Dense Gas

Within a dense environment (ρ ≈ 10 atoms=cm) at ultracold temperatures (T < 1 μK), a single atom excited to a Rydberg state acts as a reaction center for surrounding neutral atoms. At these temperatures, almost all neutral atoms within the Rydberg orbit are bound to the Rydberg core and interact with the Rydberg atom. We have studied the reaction rate and products for nS Rb Rydberg states, and ...

Nonreciprocal reflection of a subwavelength hole array.

We present measurements of the wavelength-dependent reflectivity of a subwavelength metal hole array on a glass substrate. We compare the observed resonant structures with those found in transmission and note a nonreciprocity under illumination from the air versus the glass side. This can be used to verify on which interface the surface plasmons are resonantly excited and to estimate the losses...

Photon entanglement detection by a single atom

We use a single trapped 40Ca ion as a resonant, polarizationsensitive absorber to detect and characterize the entanglement of tunable narrowband photon pairs from a spontaneous parametric down-conversion source. Single-photon absorption is marked by a quantum jump in the ion and heralded by coincident detection of the partner photon. For three polarization basis settings of the absorption and d...

Rydberg-atom trajectories in a ponderomotive optical lattice

Using semiclassical simulations, we investigate the trajectories and the microwave spectra of Rydberg atoms excited in a ponderomotive optical lattice. We relate distinct features found in the microwave spectra to characteristic types of trajectory. Several methods are presented that are designed to greatly improve the trapping efficiency of the lattice and to generalize the trapping from one t...
